30 YEARS OF THE POWER OF LOVE
BACK (and) TO THE FUTURE
2019 is an exciting one for Lydia Place as we celebrate our thirty year history, and the POWER OF LOVE here in Bellingham. To commemorate this totally awesome milestone, we have decided to celebrate the decades, and the music, that brought us from our founding in 1989, to our present in 2019.
From our decor to our soundtrack, we hope to infuse all the best part of these decades from 80’s hair, to last year’s best tracks, to tell the story of our 30 year history. With the decade decor, and Valentine flair, Hearts for Housing 2019 will be THE NOT-TO-MISS event of the season!
30 Years ago a group of women decided to take on a serious community issue, and on their own, make a home for families with children that had nowhere else to turn. Today, Lydia Place is one of our community’s largest and most robust housing and supportive service agencies for families and individuals. That’s what’s possible from POWER of love, and YOU!
*SPECIAL NOTE: GUEST ROOMS FOR YOU, OR YOUR ATTENDEES:
Lydia Place was founded in 1989 and has been serving homeless families for the past 29 years. The mission of Lydia Place is to disrupt the cycle of homelessness and promote sustained independence for current and future generations.. At Lydia Place, we believe that housing is a basic human right. We believe that in order for an individual to reach their true potential, this basic human right must be met. Further, we recognize that inequality and oppression exist and are among the root causes of poverty and homelessness. We believe that collaboration with individuals, families, and the community is the key to sustained independence. Together with our community partners, our collective goal is to end homelessness in Whatcom County.
