FASHION - FUN - PHILANTHROPY

Thursday June 7th, from 5PM-9PM Barkley Village Green, will become New York fashion week -  WITH A PURPOSE! Lydia Place, along with event partners Whatcom County Association of Realtors, Barkley Village, Labels Consignment and Wise Buys Thrift Store present Handbags for Housing,  Bellingham’s largest ladies (gentlemen welcome) night, fashion show extravaganza and handbag exchange. Hundreds of handbags, a beauty bar, cocktail and wine vendors, along with local boutiques and retailers all come together under one (tented) roof, to showcase the sheer power of local fashion and philanthropy. Tickets go on sale April 1st on this website, with all proceeds benefitting Lydia Place services working to break the cycle of homelessness for this generation and the next.

psst! This years' runway theme is Alice in Wonderland & Mad Hatter!

About Us

Lydia Place was founded in 1989 and has been serving homeless families for the past 27 years. The mission of Lydia Place is to support all people in establishing sustained independence by providing housing, supportive services, advocacy, education, and by raising awareness of the faces and causes of homelessness. At Lydia Place, we believe that housing is a basic human right. We believe that in order for an individual to reach their true potential, this basic human right must be met. Further, we recognize that inequality and oppression exist and are among the root causes of poverty and homelessness. We believe that collaboration with individuals, families, and the community is the key to sustained independence. Together with our community partners, our collective goal is to end homelessness in Whatcom County.
